• My WordPress blog https://microclesia.com

    Readers (Google Reader, etc.) cannot find the RSS feed.

    Feedvalidator.org says:

    This feed does not validate.

    *line 2, column 0: XML parsing error: <unknown>:2:0: xml declaration not at start of external entity [help]

    <?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?>

    In addition, this feed has issues that may cause problems for some users. We recommend fixing these issues.

    *Feeds should not be served with the “text/html” media type

    *Your feed appears to be encoded as “utf-8”, but your server is reporting “US-ASCII”

    What am I doing wrong? Tks.

  • Does it work if you switch to the default theme?

    I had this same problem. It was fine with the default theme, but complained if I used my own theme. It turned out I had an extra newline at the end of the functions.php file in my theme. So I would guess that something in your theme (I think that functions.php is the only theme that gets called when a feed is generated) or one of your feed-related plugins is inserting that extra newline.
