reading setting causing widget to not work

I am trying to add a blog to my works wp webpage. I have successfully added a blog page and directed the posts to that page in Reading>Settings. The problem is that the widgets do not show up when I do it this way. If I don’t use the Reading>Settings the blog page shows up empty but the widgets work just fine. Even though I have successfully created the page in practice I can’t use it live until I resolve this issue. I have been searching for a solution and have found several threads but none of them have a working solution. I am new to wordpress, and have a love/hate relationship with it.

I have my own personal web page that I have been practicing on and I have the same problem on that site. Thanks
