I am using the shortcode [readme mirror=" https://plugins.svn.www.ads-software.com/speakout/trunk/readme.txt"][/readme] which, if you follow the link shows a readme file. What is the problem with it to cause the error Plugin README Parser: README file could not be found or is malformed -? It works fine with the plugin itself.

Oh, maybe I am misunderstanding what the plugin can do. Is it even possible to get the readme (and therefore the version) of a different plugin that isn’t even installed?

    Hi!

The mirror parameter is used to add additional links. Between the shortcode start and stop, you should either have a plugin name (if it’s hosted on www.ads-software.com) or a URL there.

So, your should look like this…

    [readme]https://plugins.svn.www.ads-software.com/speakout/trunk/readme.txt[/readme]

Or, as your README is hosted here, better still…

    [readme]SpeakOut! Email Petitions[/readme]
