• Just wondering if anybody out there is working on a plugin to display IDX feed (MLS listings) in a WP blog. I seem to be getting requests lately to develop sites for real estate brokers. It may be possible for me to get someone to pay for such a plugin to be developed.

I’m hoping Roger Theriault will see this as it would be a great addition to his Great Real Estate plugin, which currently does not seem to support display of listings from incoming feeds, although it does send exclusive listings out through outbound real estate feeds, which is nice.

    Thanks

I have been working on a RE site for a while and I like the sites you have. These are not traditional WP themes, so I would be interested in knowing who designed your websites?

    REinvest,

WPIDX.com designed both of my websites. They are a custom WP Theme with full IDX Broker information.

I was looking at all this “HYPE” about IDX BROKER – and it sounds and looks good – Until you take a closer look at whats really going on here.

First of all – 100% of all of these sites DO NOT INCLUDE a integrated MLS solution into your wordpress!

What they are doing is setting up a wordpress on “YOUR” domain and then they are skinning the theme/template and wrapping it around “THEIR” MLS and putting YOUR theme on THEIR server as a SUBDOMAIN!

    https://www.southwaltonluxuryhomes.com = IP Address 69.89.31.142
    https://www.southwaltonluxuryhomes.idxco.com = IP Address 198.145.37.19

Come ON People – this is JUST AS BAD AS ALL OTHER FRAMED MLS SOLUTIONS.

There is only One REAL MLS-IDX-RETS WordPress Plugin that is 100% embedded and has the right SEO/SEF and that is the plugin called WP Realty. …but of course you would have to be on a “real server” or host with them because the 5 dollar shared hosting wont work when you go with a Real Embedded MLS.

Actually there are only three people that are doing anything with WordPress and IDX/RETS.

    WPRealty, UltimateIDX, and ME!

WPRealty and WPRealty 3.0 are the best solutions because they are unbranded which means you are not married to identity requirements on your domain.

Also, when WPRealty 3.0 is released, not only is it fully GNU/GPL but it is 40% lighter.

About WPRealty, I noticed the release for 3.0 is in March 2010. Visiting their site, it appears their MLS/IDX integration function is still not available. Am I understanding this correctly, or can WPRealty20 be integrated with an MLS/IDX feed now?

Also just found a WordPress plugin for IDX called GetYourIDX Anyone heard of it or used it? I noticed it was very new.

After much pain and frustration…along with wasting thousands of dollars, I finally am able to have a website powered by WordPress with IDX displayed on the site, not via an iFrame or 3rd party.

The real bonus is, it is costing me 1/4 of what my old site cost with the IDX framed in, plus I save $30 a month on hosting and IDX combined ($60 vs $90 / month), it’s a custom theme and personalized, and I have control through the dashboard….also, the turnover and building of it is not taking 2 months like my old site took to build!

This is all being custom built for me by WP Realty who created the WordPress Realty plugin, and obviously knows wordpress. You can check out some of the custom themes he has created for other Realtors using WordPress in his portfolio. Chad answered all my questions and I knew immediately that he was the one to use to combine wordpress with IDX.

EZPR, you actually believe this. You ignorance is shining.
The IDX is integrated into the sites. The fact is, We can claim and prove excellent search results from the actual MLS listings.
Juat as bad as Famed Site? I can send you a beginners guide to HTML if you would like so you can learn what a framed site is!
You do know how to look at the source code. It will reveal the truth.

ezpr and php4ever are just here batting for the same team.

The authors of WP Realty would like everyone to believe they have the only WP plugin that can handle MLS listings, but their products are always “almost finished” and will do what you want or need “when completed”. Yes, they probably even offer a version that will feed your Unicorn, and lucky you, that version is almost done.

How can a v3.0 solution be the “best” when it isn’t even available yet or finished?

The truth is, the WP Realty 2.x plugin being hyped today is a buggy, incomplete, work in progress created by a couple of disgruntled hobbyists. Download their 10-day trial (if you can) and see for yourself.

    +1 on re-pro.

I’ve tried to contact the wp-realty guys. No response. It looks like they’ve responded here on this thread though. And if their site is any indication….
I’m checking out getyouridx for my client. I will post here on how that works out.

re_pro is anything but a pro.

We know exactly who you are and haven’t you been banned from just about every blog you try to shoot your mouth off in?

Our plugin works just fine, jealousey is painful.

Just looking at this and I think I would have to say it that ezpr makes some very valid points here – I “have” taken the liberty to look at the code and “I” should perhaps be the one giving the html lessons here. The product your company produces is in fact “integrated” but is not in any way shape or form integrated into wordpress and as a true plugin or widget like WP Realty is.

And further more he is not claiming that you are iframing the mls – just that you are hosting the clients “theme” wrapped around your mls on a subdomain of your site (which is worthless) since it’s NOT the clients real domain.

And NOW let’s talk more about “MY” favorite subject “SEO” …btw this is what I do for a living – Main reason I financed WP Realty is because I use it for all my SEO client sites.
Since you said to take a look under the hood at the source code – let’s do that =)

Let’s take a look at your “wordpress” mls solution that you are pushing us here:

First let’s take a look at your url structure:
https://www.southwaltonluxuryhomes.idxco.com/idx/4422/details.php?idxID=123&listingID=485297 and this is supposed to tell google what exactly?
Now for the listing page “Title”
<title>WaterColor Luxury Homes : South Walton Luxury Homes</title> – same on every listing regardless = worthless
    Next For the “Meta”
    Ooops – no meta keywords!
    – and though Google may not use them there are other search engines that still do so it’s still important if you want to have the best seo/mls solution out there.
    Ooops – no meta description!
    – You are trying to “hope” that google will find something relevant to show in the search result but what will it look like?
I know mine will be what I want it to be “every-time” …and I know what mine will “look like” every time!

I just pulled up one of my client sites and wanted to give you a idea of what a “true” seo’d MLS solution should produce.
All the below is “Dynamic” – meaning each and every mls listing is “unique” and thus easier to get all of your listing pages indexed into google for relevant search phrases based on MLS#, street addresses, subdivision, condo name etc..anything you want as long as it’s in the db.
Our listings can be structured anyway you want in the titles, urls, and meta – client can set their own structure within the admin panel.

First off — urls and titles are permalink and all-in-one-seo compatible.
    Myclientsite.com/realestate/listing-710677-waccamaw-lakes -141-cockle-shell-pawleys-island-sc /
<title>141 Cockle Shell Waccamaw Lakes Pawleys Island SC MLS# 710677 Home For Sale.</title>
<meta name=’keywords’ content=’141 Cockle Shell Waccamaw Lakes Pawleys Island SC MLS# 710677 Home For Sale.’>
<meta name=’description’ content=’141 Cockle Shell Waccamaw Lakes Pawleys Island, SC. MLS# 710677 Home For Sale.’>

I think before you shoot off your mouth – like you have something better than you really do – you should do your homework first because there are lots of seo people that would gladly back me up that we are comparing apples to lemons here….but in the end ..the choice is up to the public as to what they are getting themselves into – but based on the facts I just provided I don’t think you will see a lot of buyers from this thread anytime soon =)

Thank you Craig for sharing your IDX Broker experience.

    Here are some facts:

The dynamic title tag feature is available in IDX Broker via a select button in General Preferences. IDX websites should definitely contain dynamic title tags vs. static title tags or worse yet, IDX hosted inside of an iFrame that contains no links back to the host.

Regarding the IP lookup of an IDX Broker subdomain; since when did search engines care who registered the IP? All IDX Broker subdomains can be claimed by the owner using simple “verify” meta tags provided by Google, Bing, etc.

As for dynamic Meta keyword and description tags, great suggestion.

WP-Realty in my opinion is a BAIT and HOOK. There is no IDX integration whatsoever for the plugin. It is a great tool however to get people interested and then sell them customization. By the way, CHAD, if SEO is your favorite subject than I am sure you have heard Google no longer is giving weight to META tags. Its all over the net.

Maybe before you invest in something, you will check it out. I understand your anger – competition that clearly worries you!
