Hi, since updating to 3.9.9 my website has been so full of problems I’m afraid I shall have to discontinue. It’s been a great theme for some time and very useful. However, after spending 2 days trying to sort things out I cannot deal with it any longer. Widgets disappear from the sidebar, it took forever to work out how to get the child theme working and eventually I had to re-install an earlier version. 3.9.9 has caused so many problems that even installing an older version I have carried over some of the problems. I see from others here that there are serious issues with the update. So sorry because it was a great theme.

  • Same here! Mobile menu doesn’t work after update. I’m looking for previous 3.3.7 version =/

    Hi @sahelizabeth,

You can download previous versions at the following location.

    Hi @puntoman,

I would not be able to help you fix your child theme customization, but it’s not possible for your problem to exist after reverting back to a previous version that works for you.

After reverting back to a theme version that works previously, you should clear any cache or server cache’s cache content and browser history. If it does not work properly, you should be looking for plugin conflict by disabling third party plugins.

    Thank you

Hi @puntoman @sahelizabeth, I’m really sorry that you are having issues.

WordPress, the browsers, the mobile devices and the user needs are evolving at a very fast pace. The Hueman theme has to follow those evolutions as much as possible.
That’s why I have to publish improvements like the ones in the latest release.
I try to make the upgrade as smooth as possible. Most of the settings are reversible from the customizer panel.
Just as an example, during the last year, all themes had to move their options to the customizer panel. Considering that Hueman is used by 70K users, this was a huge challenge. But we managed to do it without breaking all sites.

For users of child themes, it is sometimes more complex to adapt, and requires an update of some templates. In the latest version, the header templates have been modified.

You can always revert to a previous version lile @denzel_chia suggested it, and take the time to test the new features on a test site. This is the best practices for any WP theme when using a child theme.

    Cheers

Ok, having spent most of today sorting out the problems I had with the update I think I have resolved most of them. I love this theme and that’s why I spent so much time trying to figure it all out. Seems that the update is moving more towards the customisr and away from a child css theme. Thanks for your efforts.

@puntoman: have you been able to find a reason for the missing sidebar widgets?
Mine are complete on the home page, two important ones are missing on all posts and pages.

And my navigation menu ain’t sticky anymore.

[I don’t have tons of time to deal with this. We’re full-time travellers and rely only solar power and mobile internet access – both aren’t always a given and hence limit my computer time.]

Webbeetle, I found my missing sidebar widgets were corrected by going into the customisr and checking the settings for the sidebar. For some reason they had been switched off when I updated the theme.

    Thanks for the efforts!
