Really good RSS plugin
-
Look, this plugin is not absolutely perfect, but realistically are there any 100% perfect WordPress plugins out there?
My experience with implementing WP RSS Aggregator on a couple of sites is this:
Yes – there is a steep learning curve, but you just have to be patient and make sure you are familiar with what you are doing and what the plugin can achieve
Yes – there are occasional issues with the manner in which content is fetched, but honestly I can’t say whether this is the plugin’s fault or that of the feed from the particular site from which it is fetching
No – this is not really a “set and forget” plugin. Well, it kind of can be (generally), but if you are not going to spend at least a tiny bit of time checking and moderating your site content generated by WP RSS Aggregator, then I don’t think you should be running an aggregation site in the first place. You need to curate your content people!!
Yes – I think this plugin with the Advanced Feeds Bundle is absolutely worth the money if you want a comprehensive RSS aggregation plugin that does a darn good job.
So, on the whole, I am pretty impressed and more than happy to recommend it to and implement it for my clients who want this. I am also just about to implement it on an aggregated content site of my own, so I obviously have faith in it.
One qualification here though – I see a lot of one star reviews for lack of communication from the development team. I can’t really comment in terms of plugin support because I haven’t had to contact them. I did contact them regarding an affiliate program for on-selling the plugin to my clients, for which I got an answer that I wasn’t entirely satisifed with (because it was basically a “No, you can’t be an affiliate for now”), but hey, you can’t have everything. It won’t stop me using the plugin or recommending it.
If you’re prepared to put in the work for the learning curve, this plugin is really good. If you’re not, look elsewhere.
