Really nice optimization plugin

  • I was not really expecting visible change after installing this plugin, but after i’ve done everything i could to rise my pagespeed rank(except moving scripts from header to footer, which i can’t do) i thought i will give it a try – and it actually works!

    My WP installation contains about 25 different plugins and I haven’t found any problems so far.

    After installing this plugin I went from 68/84 to 72/87, which is maybe not that much, but it is visible change.

    Good job on this one.

    EDIT: This is actually first time i have to change my review, i feel like i need to.

    First of all – ATM this plugin interferes with ANY facebook widget, means that facebook widget will not show up on your website, doesn’t matter which plugin you will use. I already send support ticket and author says, that they are “looking into it”, but i can’t really wait few weeks for simple fix.

    Secondly – chrome dev tool gives only one additional js error with this plugin enabled, but firefox gives 3 new errors which is kinda disturbing. That means something else may broke in meantime while using this plugin and with 20+ plugins i can’t really check every one of those for interferes. Thing is, that i can’t do anything with that(plugin doesn’t offer any kind of options) and only thing i can do i send support ticket, which I would prefer not do everytime i see errors, that’s why i took first star from rating.

    This plugin is nice, but it’s require a lot of polishing and that’s why i took second one star from rating. I already switched to another(similiar) plugin and it costed me one point in overall google insights rating, but it gives 0 additional errors and does not interfere with anything.

    If you want to use this plugin, then prepare for some bugchecking, at least at the moment.

    I’m eager to change rating, but once plugin will be polished and fixed, for now 3 stars is max i can give.

    I just wanted to follow up with you. Thank you for your honest and thoughtful review. I appreciate that you took the time to offer specifics.

    When we say we’re looking into it, it really does means we are looking into it. Over the last couple months we’ve been working on revamping a large portion of the code. The recent release features optimized code which has improved compatibility and works well with Facebook widgets, sliders etc.

    You mentioned that you “can’t really wait few weeks for simple fix“. You may not realize it, but what seems like a “simple fix”, rarely is simple.

    It’s important to understand that when you minify a site’s JavaScript and CSS with a plugin, you are making major changes to the site’s code. Especially when there are 20-30+ plugins as you mentioned..many which add their own CSS and JavaScript to a site. There’s a lot of moving parts to get that all running smoothly together (even without minifying the code)…and there may be a few quirks here and there. We work hard to eliminate those, but we rely on users reporting issues to us, since we can’t possibly test every single combination out there.

    There’s only a few of us and a lot of you guys out there. ?? We have over 100,000 users of free WordPress plugins we have developed, and we still work hard to provide free tech support. Ensuring compatibility with a majority of plugins and themes is not a small task. We try to fix issues as quickly as possible, but sometimes it does take longer.

    One of the things that you may not realize is that this plugin is one of the most lightweight and fastest of it’s kind. We purposely built that way without using huge libraries, like some of the other comparable plugins out there. It does it’s job with less than 95kb of code. Some of the comparable plugins are several MB so 20-30 times to code weight.

    Anyway…Just wanted to get back to you. Check out the revamped code, and I hope everything is going well for you. Have a good one. ??
