• I am working on the website https://globalrestaurantsource.com using WordPress. I downloaded the Really Simple SSL Plugin prior to purchasing an SSL certificate.

I then learned I would have to get a CPanel hosting account through GoDaddy in order to use a 3rd party SSL Cert I purchased. So I am in limbo waiting on them to get my new CPanel hosting account ready.

In the meantime, yesterday I have 2 plugins pending updates in WordPress, 1 for Really Simple SSL Plugin and 1 for All-in-one WP Security and Firewall.

The moment that these finished updating these plugins I was unable to access my site. Whenever I try to go to my login URL (I changed it from default using the All-In-One WP Security and Firewall plugin) I get redirected from https://globalrestaurantsource.com to https://globalrestaurantsource.com and I get error messages. On Chrome, I get:

    “SSL connection error

    ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR”

    On Firefox I get,

    “Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to globalrestaurantsource.com. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

    – The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
    – Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.”

I have tried disabling my plugins and using https://globalrestaurantsource.com/wp-admin as the login URL with no luck.

I have since used my FTP manager and restored all of my .php files to several days before there was any issue with the site.

Yesterday after the update I could view the homepage, but the pictures were broken, as if it was having trouble communicating with my databases. Today the homepage just redirects me to the SSL error as well.

Any ideas as to what I could do? I am panicking that I will not be able to access the site at all, especially because I restored it all to a date when it worked and it still seems broken. This makes me think it has something to do with the wpconfig file, which I have since restored to a previous date with no luck.

When I try to restore EVERY file it tells me I do not have access. The one directory I cannot restore is called Stats.

Thanks, any help is majorly appreciated.

EDIT: I have since noticed that my stats directory is now missing. I cannot create a new directory for stats either. When I try, it says “File not found.”. Very strange, surely this is the culprit.
