    Hi there,

I’ve got a really strange problem. I’ve installed wordpress on hostgator. The install went fine as expected (via fantastico) and the frontend displays fine.

My problem is within the admin section of the blog. The admin GUI loads fine. I can click on “view” type screens no problem (but they are a little slow compared to another host)

But when I try to create a post, or add a link to my blog roll, or load a plugins settings, the action looks to be executed, but the follow up confirmation screen loads EXTREMELY slowly or not at all. In most cases, the action has been completed (i.e. when I refresh the frontend I can see the post or link etc.)

I’ve tried connecting to the host from a different ISP and everything seems to be ok. I’ve also tried the same operations from a public proxy server on the problem ISP and everything works ok.

Which lends me to think this is most definitely some problem between either me and my ISP or between my ISP and the internet in general.

I don’t have this problem with my ISP between other hosting providers I also use.

I’ve approached my hosting company and they can’t see a problem and are being assistive. I’ve just never seen anything like this before and wonder if anyone here has ever experienced anything like this and how I would explain this to my ISP (i.e. what network issue would cause the page to not render and why is it specific to update operations).

    Hi,
no, I did an auto install using fantastico so I never did any manual config.

Just looking in the root of my site I don’t see a .htaccess file.

But I do still seem to have friendly urls etc.

Do you think this could be related to my problem?

can you do another fantastico install in another directory and see if it works, and check if the .htaccess is there, its usually is a hidden file

    Hi Yes,

it’s there now – it doesn’t show up via the standard view on cpanel’s file manager but I can now access via ssh

is there anything specific I should be looking for?
