Reason for Authentication Unique Key

  • Good evening. I am new to wordpress and checking out my options for a CMS. From what I understand about the Authentication Unique Key, it’s to prevent hacker intrusions.

    What exactly are they hacking into? I mean, what is the this authentication protecting?

    I figure I better understand some level of security…
