• Hi

My database just disappeared on me. The folders and files are all there. Is there a way to install another wordpress and somehow bring in the content I have saved in the original folders and make it work?

    Thanks

    Well..you want the long story?

I know it sounds really odd for it to just disappear. I’m not quite sure what happened. I don’t know if it’s related, but the last thing I did was to install a mod in my zen cart late yesterday afternoon and everything seemed fine, right after that I went in to myfantastico to do some cleaning up(uninstalling) of some unused programs. I clicked on the links beside each installation to visit each site to be sure I wouldn’t uninstall the wrong sites. When I clicked on the link to visit my zencart, it wouldn’t load, no errors or anything. I clicked on the link for the wordpress and it can’t connect to the database.
I went to file manager and found many files and folders (not all) for my zen cart were missing, which I restored, the database was still there but I ended up having to import a DB backup to get that up and running again.

(I did go and change my cpanel password.)

My wordpress database is gone too. It’s not showing up in my list of databases. I know I didn’t delete it in fantastico because the installation is still showing with the link to visit the site. My provider does have a database backup but they say they have to apply it from root access and I have to pay for it. If I can rebuild it myself with what I have I would do that also for the learning experience and use my provider as a last resort.

I had been looking for where I may have put my WP database backup and couldn’t find it but I had one more place to look and just found one. I have the database back in there and I’m making progress. My wordpress now opens but the sideboxes aren’t there. I went to log into my wp-admin but I’m getting a 404 page not found.

I went and got my WP folder backup put in place so I believe all of the folders and files should be there.

Any suggestions where to go from here?
