ReCaptcha error – Captcha cannot be found when official Hubspot plugin active

    Please note – this post relates to the Formidable Forms Lite plugin and official Hubspot plugin – not the Hubspot addon offered by Formidable Forms Pro.

    reCaptcha no longer works in Formidable forms with the official Hubspot plugin activated.
    Our forms are located in Fancybox v5 popups (in case that makes a difference)

    We have the same issue as another poster, and our issues also only started a few weeks ago.
    I am starting a new thread as the thread was marked as resolved, but only because the poster removed the captcha from the form which is not a solution.

    Our forms are also loading within a popup (the latest Fancyapps Fancybox v5).
    We have narrowed down the issue to occurring when the Hubspot plugin is active.
    Note it doesn’t have to be connected to an account for the issue to occur.

    The Captcha never loads in our form, there is no ‘reCaptcha is protecting your site’ symbol, and after hitting submit we see the message “This Captcha could be loaded” message.

    We have no javascript errors at all in the console.

    My guess is that something has recently changed with one of the plugins, since this has only recently started happening. Both plugins were running alongside just fine for a long time (years).

    This issue is with Formidable, as the Captcha no longer loads inside your forms.

    We cannot disable Hubspot as it automatically populates data into our CRM from our Formidable Forms.

    Formidable Forms – please advise if you can replicate the issue?
    We have removed the reCaptcha from our forms in order to get them working again.

    Do you have the same issue if your form is NOT in a fancybox popup? We have seen issues in the past where some popup plugins do not have the functionality required to fully support our forms.

    I would also recommend checking these troubleshooting items:
    1. Ensure that both the Formidable Forms and Hubspot plugins are updated to their latest versions.
    2. Temporarily deactivate all other plugins except for Formidable Forms and Hubspot to check if the issue persists. This will help determine if there’s a conflict with another plugin.
    3. Switch to a default WordPress theme temporarily to rule out any theme-specific conflicts.
    4. Clear all forms of caching on your site, including browser cache, plugin cache, and server cache.

    If the issue remains after these steps, please provide the URL of your form so I can investigate further.

    @njones35 – thanks for your reply

    The troubleshooting elements all pass.
    What we can confirm – Switching off the Hubspot makes no difference.
    The issue seems to happen only to forms that appear in a popup. I don’t know why our forms have been working fine in popups until a few weeks ago (no changes to the site)

    ** Can you identify a popup javscript library that works with reCaptcha and your plugin?
    We are using Fancybox v5, which is the latest and very popular. Note that we are using a custom bespoke theme, hence we have control and knowledge of all the code in the site.

    While we don’t have a list of popup JavaScript libraries that are guaranteed to work with reCAPTCHA and our plugin, many users have found success with the Bootstrap Modal add-on which is specifically designed to support our forms. You can find more information about it here:?Bootstrap Modal.

    The issue is that your plugin used to work with reCaptcha in popups fine for us.

    Asking us to upgrade to a Plus license solely for the purpose of running your forms with reCaptcha (which is essential these days) is crazy. Your Bootstrap addon will essentially do everything that Fancybox v5 already does.

    Can you point me to support tickets where the issues you have acknowledged are discussed, or where I can see a live working version of a form running reCaptcha in your Bootstrap popup modal addon?

    Is there better success using Cloudflare’s Turnstile solution?

    Hello – we’ve been able to reproduce this issue and our developers plan to include a fix in an upcoming release.

    Please check the changelog when a new version is released to see if this fix is included: https://formidableforms.com/changelog/

    In the meantime, we have options for Cloudflare turnstile or hCaptcha that are great alternatives for recaptcha.
