recaptcha gone? Where is it?

Contact 7 5.1 forced you to use reCaptcha V3, removed your v2 keys and ignored the [recaptcha] tag.

reCAPTCHA v3 was added by the plugin author (Takayuki Miyoshi – not me) after repeated requests from CF7 users to do this.

If others reading this are having trouble with reCAPTCHA v3 on their site, I recommend you check your Integration Setup using https://contactform7.com/recaptcha/.

The solution suggested by @peterupfold is extremely poor practice and should be avoided.

IMO you & others should definitely not be recommending this to other users & I have reported this to Forum Moderation for examination.

Although the upgrade to recaptcha v3 has caused a torrent of spam.

Until the author updates to fix the plugin you can download a previous version here:

https://en-gb.www.ads-software.com/plugins/contact-form-7/advanced/

Just scroll to the bottom and use the dropdown menu to select the last version.

If you ever need to do this with other plugins, go to the main download page for any plugin and on the right hand side there’s an option ‘Advanced View’ just above the ratings.

While I agree that it’s not an official fix, that’s the quickest way to fix the issue that the author is forcing on everyone. I know people are asking for v3 support, but why remove the v2 support entire to support v3? Not to mention that the spam plaque that others has been complaining.
The author has also been deleting people’s request for adding v2 back as an option. He seems reluctant to retract and offer users option to choose which version to use.

@buzztone Adding a feature at request of some user while completely ignoring another side of the coin is, IMHO, the worst practice for any developer.

Hi,

I had a same issue contact form 7 recaptcha disappear after update to new version CF7.
After reading the forums, I understand that the captcha no longer display in contact form but works in background. But after submitting the form I am getting error message. I check the form after removing captacha keys its working fine.

Any one have this kind of issue?

The author has moved the application to Google Recaptcha V3 from V2.

In Google Recaptcha V3 the whole thing is invisible and there is no object to interact with. It does however post a Google logo all over your site which you can hide with simple CSS techniques..
