I’m having issues on a site i work on.
The contact form on it stopped working (i’m pretty sure it was working before), when you submit a form it gives the standard error message, which tells me nothing useful.

Besides the automated WordPress updates nobody has touched the site, so maybe this plugin doesn’t work very well with the latest version on WP.

There were 10 plugins that needed updating, including CF7, i did those, nothing changed. (still broken)

I created a new default form, only changed where the submission emails are sent to and that also doesn’t work.

The site has very few plugins and the ones that are there are very common, like Jetpack, Classic Editor, All-in-one-SEO, etc.

I uninstalled the plugin and reinstalled it, created the form again, and then i got no more error message, but then i setup recaptcha integration again and after that the error messages came back, so i found the problem, it’s the V3 recaptcha integration, please fix it.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Is the error border color orange or red?

An orange error border can indicate reCAPTCHA v3 is not working correctly on your site.

You may see this error if you’ve:

    • previously used reCAPTCHA v2 with CF7
    • updated to CF7 5.1.1 or newer and
    • not changed your previous reCAPTCHA v2 keys to reCAPTCHA v3 keys at Contact > Integration.

The API keys for reCAPTCHA v2 don’t work with the reCAPTCHA v3 API.

    Thanks for the reply

    – i manage a lot of sites, they all used CF7 back when it had V2 and i switched to V3 on all of them, and those don’t have any issues like this, not that i checked, maybe i should.

    – i’m using the latest version of CF7 and WP

    – it’s using V3 keys, no doubt about it.

Other than updating plugins, wordpress and the PHP version i changed nothing, so one of those must be the issue.

Anyway, the client wants to have a checkbox style captcha which means going back to V2, which means ditching CF7 for a different plugin.

@joegp same thing here. Using the v3 keys, it has been working and today discover that the form won’t submit, returns the error “There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.” No errors in the console, no logging in the console…nothing. The only thing that resolved the problem was to disable the reCaptcha integration.

FYI, there is a plugin that brings the v2 integration back to CF7. https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wpcf7-recaptcha/

@maguijo – see I have the same problem! Can I just reply to someone else’s post with “Me too”?.

If you are willing to create a new question, which details your issues, somebody will likely be able to help you there.
