We used to have the plugin WPForms Lite and i started a topic back then in the plugin forum (Link) asking for help with a serious spam issue. I thought the problem was solved back then by blocking the bot IP in the htaccess file, but I was wrong.
After I tried everything I eventually disabled the plugin, then deinstalled it and deleted all the cache. That was a few months ago and we STILL receive a minimum of 30 spam messages all coming from what seems to be a contact form on our website…
Since we don’t even have the contact form plugin anymore I’m really wondering what can I do to stop this and have a functioning website again. I’d appreciate all sugestions.

  • Have you examined the emails’ headers? Do the emails actually come from your site/server?

Or is your domain or email address merely spoofed?

Problem is solved! No more spam! I looked one more time really detailed into the server logs and realized the contact form entries aren’t coming from the website i suspected. They were coming from a similar domain name that we registered later and cloned to look exactly like the one i linked here. The notification text for incoming conact form entries was apparently not changed back then.
