Received email backup despite not enabling database backups

I just received a backup that I did not initiate and am wondering if the plugin sent it automatically or if someone has broken into my site. I recently updated to the latest version of the plugin and WordPress 4.5.2. I see in the changeling that automatic backups are enabled by default in new installations but this is an old one that was updated.
