• Hi there, your plugin seems great, thank you! I’m looking forward to finishing set up and seeing how it impacts the site. I’m just running trials now – and I have an issue or two popping up, as follows:

    – I keep receiving repeat notifications about the same activity post mention. It was an activity post made by one buddypress account mentioning my account mention name. I tried clicking on the browser notice, but it continued to be re-delivered, I tried clicking x and closing it, I tried visiting the activity page, and also reading the notification about it in my profile, so it showed as read – but still kept receiving that same notification. (I’m set up for every 300 seconds schedule at the moment whilst testing it out). Oddly it seems it’s only happened with this one post, obviously we’ve made multiple posts in testing and it’s just happening with this one post. Has this arisen before? I read through the support groups and seem to remember reading something similar from someone else but can’t find it now (I may have read it on One signal wp page?). Anyway, I changed the settings in your plugin to show only your own activity notifications, (it was set to show ‘New comments in BuddyPress/Post types’) – but still received that same notification again on an unrelated account (one who neither sent the mention, nor was the subject of it). I have since deleted that activity in wordpress, but still continue to receive the notifications, how do I prevent this from happening again, have I done something incorrectly in set up? And how do I stop this current notification, must I address it in One Signal somewhere?

    – The save button on the ‘front end profile settings’ with One Signal settings. After a user chooses in their profile what they wish to be notified about – the button doesn’t seem to do anything, any ideas what I need to do?. I refreshed the page in case, and the changes are definitely not saved. It is worth mentioning here that I tried set up both with Firebase and One Signal, and filled in all settings.

    I also tried this with Firebase settings and it still seemed that this save button did nothing at all. However, after clicking the shortcode button to subscribe front end which I had also activated, it seems that although the save button appears to do nothing, with some delay the switches do refresh to the ‘on’ position. I tested this a few times and got the same behaviour. On One Signal I can’t get the settings to save at all. Have I done something wrong or missed something?

    – User subscription shortcode: with firebase settings this link appears but with a lengthy delay before it renders. When I use One Signal settings and show this shortcode, no link shows at all, the widget where I tried it out stays blank, any ideas what I should try?

    Thanks ??

    Hi there, ok great thank you for letting me know I’ll look through it asap.

    Meanwhile a couple of errors I spotted, I noticed that no matter how many times I activate ‘comments’ on posts activity in the front end settings in buddypress, the ‘on’ switch doesn’t save and it reverts to the off position after saving has processed.

    Also when I choose a custom colour for the bell icon, it saves the info in the colour settings but isn’t reflected in the icon, either in admin or front end.

    Is there a way to hide an option from the front end settings if you don’t want the user to be able to select it?

    I tried choosing the setting for only the user’s comments etc, thinking that might remove the other comments option from the front end setting choices, but it didn’t, any ideas?

    Thanks

    Update: I can see that if I disable all comments completely, then this removes both comment options from the front end, but disabling the option for all comments and leaving it active for only your own comments, doesn’t seem to remove that comments option on the front end settings.

    Additional: I use wpdiscuz for comments, if that’s useful to know in any way.

    When I first accept push notifications using the bell, all areas are activated as they should be. If I move switch to off for comments (not comments for own posts etc, the other comments), then I can’t reactivate it again, it just won’t save as on again, if that helps any? (So currently, to turn that option back on I would have to deactivate all notifications and then reactivate to reinstate all)

    Something else, when you deactivate notifications, the processing message appears as it should, but doesn’t become the success message for off, it hangs. After a while I just clicked the processing message to get rid of it and the notifications had already been turned off, the message was just sticking.

    Thanks

    Hi, in some of the CSS where there aren’t any options to control the colour scheme in plugin admin, you’re using !important statements, so it limits overriding css to match to a site’s own colour scheme
    Thanks ??

    ui-widget-header {
        border: 1px solid #EC008C!important;
        background: #EC008C !important;
        font-size: 12px!important;

    Hi. in the pop up modal, when you click the shortcode button to activate push notifications, there are options made available to non-admin users that aren’t appropriate, such as subscription updates.

    This would definitely not be something you would want general site users to be able to opt into.

    Items we have said you don’t want to appear as options front end, appear here still, where the expectation would be that it is synched with the settings available in the front end.

    Thread Starter Kir 2012

    (@kir-2012)

    Is there a possibility of a shortcode button to activate push notifications but without the pop up that shows all of the different settings, if it isn’t going to match the settings dictated by admin?

    The issue with the bell icon is there aren’t options to hide it or show it only at a certain page or within a widget. Users don’t want the bell to live forever in the corner. Neither does admin, as also it reminds the user who has subscribed, of the option of unsubscribing merely by existing in view – which isn’t useful.

    If it is necessary to sign up first to notifications before the front end settings are functional, it would be good to have a button or link placed in settings to do that, without duplicate (and more) settings being shown in a pop up, what do you think?

    Thanks ??

    Error: After subscribing to push notifications using the shortcode, the message changes on the button, but not to the correct custom message for ‘Shortcode – unsubscription button text’ under ‘Shortcode subscribe options text customization [subscribe_PNFPB_push_notification]’ section in customise buttons.

    Instead it displays the custom message saved for the Group subscription button text (under ‘BuddyPress Group subscribe/unsubscribe button customization’ section. )

    The ‘x’ to close the pop ups, they aren’t visible – they are there and they work but probably should be visible for users who aren’t very technical so they can see how to close the pop ups.

    Actually, further to my previous comment about the pop up when you use the shortcode button to subscribe to notifications, I don’t think the checkbox for ‘Subscription option updated’ is supposed to be there, is it? Is it an error?

    In Frontend settings , Subscribe to BuddyPress all comments and my comments are toggle option, either one has to be selected. If you select both then BuddyPress all comments will be disabled. If you want to select BuddyPress all comments then disable my comments option.

    At present if notification is disable for options like post/activities/comments….in admin settings then those options will not be available in frontend settings.

    Push notification subscription icon is a image, if you want your own image please upload your own custom icon in admin push settings page under custom prompt customize option (please download latest version 1.70version), background color of button can be changed with color code in same settings.

    Frontend settings option disable/enable irrespective of push notification settings enable/disable is not available now but if push notification is enabled for a option (like post/activities/comments/privatemessages/friendship request/accept…) then those options will be available in front end settings. May be i will include controlling of front end settings from admin panel in future release.

    I will update default ui- class in css with pnfpb parent divider in upcoming release, so that it will not interfere with default jquery ui …in the mean time if you want please override those from custom css

    I will update shortcode logic to show various options based on admin settings for push notifications in upcoming Tuesday release, I will look into shortcode related things also in upcoming release.
