    Hi everyone,

I wonder if somebody could help me with identifying from where and how I’m receiving subscribers to my website. I have a subscription button in the footer and normally I receive a notification once somebody subscribes to my newsletter, however, the subscriber list in the screenshot does not receive any notification about it. Keep into account that I run ads sometimes, but no notification for new subscribers through my submission button form or normal registration. Maybe these emails are spam, however, they don’t look so according to the screenshot. So, could anyone guide me on how these visitors could subscribe to my website?

    Thanks in advance

What plugin are you using to manage your subscriptions?

    I use fluent CRM

In that case, I recommend asking at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/fluent-crm/ so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

I’m 100% sure the issue is not from fluentcrm plugin because I tried to submit my subscription and I had got a notification email powered by fluentcrm, while those subscribers came with any notification to me. I hope if somebody could guide me how that is happening.

WordPress has absolutely no built-in subscription system, and the two screenshots you shared aren’t from built-in WordPress interfaces.

Ok, but how do you believe the issue comes from fluentcrm plugin? Any person submit his email through this button I should get a notification but those subscribers how they subscribed? This issue that I can’t recognize.

The issue is coming from something that is not core WordPress, so you are right that I can’t effectively pinpoint it myself.

You mentioned you are using FluentCRM to manage your subscriptions, and the issue is with subscribers, so FluentCRM’s support seems like the best place to start.

Ok, I will dive more in this plugin and check out whether the problem comes from it.

    I will let you know

    Thanks for your support

    Hello marseem,

No one here is familiar with how Fluent CRM works, so it’s not possible for anyone here to speculate on how you get subscribers without you getting a notification.

I will add that email notifications sent from web servers are not 100% reliable. Such emails are more likely to be thought of as spam and discarded by mail systems. Such messages often do not even make it to your mail client’s spam folder. They simply disappear. If your notification email settings do not use your domain as the From: address, messages are even more likely to look like spam. But even notification From: addresses with the correct domain name can still be treated as spam.

There are several anti-spam measures in typical email messages (DKIM, SPF, etc.). If these are missing or incorrect, the message will more likely be treated as spam.

What messages are treated as spam is inconsistent. Thus some notifications will get through and others will not. Because of this unreliability, never assume no notifications means no subscribers. You should periodically check server side logs for subscribers even if you do not get any notifications.

    Thanks for your replies.

I want to mention that yesterday I deactivated the subscription button to figure out if the issue came from it. Today, I opened my contact list and had found out that I received new subscribers. Really, strange!

    Strange indeed.

Since WordPress has no built-in subscription system, and you’re using Fluent CRM to manage your subscriptions and subscribers, https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/fluent-crm/ would be the best people to explain what’s going on.

Deactivating the subscription button does not necessarily deactivate the handler code. While I’m unfamiliar with Fluent CRM, something similar can happen with WP comments. You could remove the comment forms from your site and still get comments posted via wp-comments-post.php. The commenter would need to know the proper form fields to send, but it is possible. Anyone doing so is most likely a spammer, so I’m guessing these new subscribers without a subscription button are also illegitimate. However, it’s conceivable someone has a cached page they legitimately used to subscribe.

…attempting to explain something I really know nothing about ??
