• Hey all,

I just received the second email (from two separate sites I admin) that I think are hack attempts.

The sender is the WP admin email
It was sent to my email (and this is also admin user on same sites)
The subject line is a number (55)
The content is a number (155) then a link to login:
    https://example.com/wp-login.php

Has anyone else experienced this? Just curious before I go investigating all my plugins and themes on both sites.

  • This happened to me today too. The first email was from the main site of a multi-site installation with the subject line “56” and “155” in the body. The other was to a subsite with the subject line “61” and “155” in the body.

Thanks for the confirmation netflint. As it happens, the above also happened on multi-site installs. A dev friend of mine suggested it may be a venerability in a plugin or theme. Maybe we should compare the plugins we have activated on our installs to determine if there’s a common link…then continue debugging from there. If you’d rather not post your plugin list here, just check my profile for my site and contact me through there if you’re interested…
