recent post plugin without images

  • Does anyone know of a Recent Post plugin that will allow me to eliminate any image of any size, without leaving a generic “placeholder” icon? I just want to post the words in the sidebar to highlight the most recent post onto my home page. It has to be simple! I tried Recent Posts Shortcode Widget and it won’t let me eliminate the image space. You folks suggested contacting the developer but he won’t answer. Is there anything out there that works easily?

    The built-in WordPress recent post widget doesn’t show featured images.

    Thanks, but that just lists the recent posts’ titles, dates, and links to them. I was looking for a way to actually put the latest post onto the front page, so that reader can see the title and a good bit of the content. That’s what Recent Post Shortcode Widget did, only with the stupid little image icon. I’m actually using the built in recent posts widget to list the most recent ten, so reader can link to them if interested. If that’s the best I can do, I’ll live with it.

    The image can be hidden with CSS, but that shortcode does not offer any useful selectors.

    What do you mean by “useful selectors”? And any suggestions as to how to hide the image with CSS, that isn’t too complicated? I tried to find the image information in that plugin but what I found and deleted didn’t help, and I was reluctant to mess with it too much, as I really do not know what I’m doing!

    If you can’t get support, I suggest you use a different plugin.
