If you can upload images with the same aspect ratio, it won’t be cropped off.

However, if you want to change the default image sizes for the theme – you’ll need to either create a Child Theme or use a plugin such as this one https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/simple-image-sizes/ to change the image sizes for your setup.
