Recent posts not displaying on home page, blog page, or portfolio page

    I am having a problem with home page (which has a slider and recent blog posts), blog page and portfolio page not displaying.

    Some background: Last month I moved my site from a sub directory (hivcontrollers.org/ragoninstitute) to the main directory (ragoninstitute.org) and, besides a few broken image links, I didn’t have any problems.

    Today I updated 9 plugins as well as updated the version of WordPress and now I have an issue that content for the home page (https://ragoninstitute.org/), the blog page (https://ragoninstitute.org/news/), and the portfolio section (https://ragoninstitute.org/research/member-labs/) do not display. All other static pages display and I can navigate directly to a blog post (https://ragoninstitute.org/2013/11/ragon-hosts-section-of-aids-memorial-quilt/) or portfolio page (https://ragoninstitute.org/portfolio-item/barouch/) so I know they exist.

    To troubleshoot, I have:
    – deactivated and reactivated plugins
    – checked the htaccess file
    – checked the wp-config file
    – changed the theme

    None of them showed any change except for changing the theme. When I did that, the blog posts were showing on the home page so it seems to me it’s a communication issue between the theme and the database but I can’t figure out where to fix it. In MyPHPAdmin? In the theme files?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    If it is the theme, then I’m sorry but, as you are using a commercial theme, you need to seek support from the theme’s developer/vendor. We do not support commercial products here.

    Thank you, Esmi! I had deactivated each plug in and checked the site each time and then reactivated and it hadn’t worked. But by deactivated them all at once and reactivating one by one, I was able to find the problem plugin and so, without it, the site is up and running! Thank you!
