I was using this plugin but could not turn off notifications. No matter what settings of how I configured I continued getting emails

Last month I was tired of it so deacitvated the plugin and removed it. I am still getting daily emails this is the latest “SUCCESS: WordPress was successfully updated to WordPress 6.8-alpha-59840”

    from:WordPress<[email protected]>via srv1627.main-hosting.eu to:[email protected]
date:Feb 20, 2025, 8:01?AMsubject:[Ernies High] Background Update Finishedmailed-by:srv1627.main-hosting.eusecurity: Standard encryption (TLS) Learn more

How do I stop these emails?

Did you see the Extra Settings tab?

Yes, I tried all that before removing the plugin.

Could there be something in the database that would not have been removed?

The default in core is to send update notifications. Running trunk means you get at least one a day.

You might want to try this, https://gist.github.com/afragen/e2f40ed2e71e590a127e8adc1db05948

The email is clearly connected to the Beta plugin

What I don’t understand is why I would need to add filter to stop the plugin’s email. Shouldn’t they stop when I remove the plugin and no longer get nightly updates?

The email originates from core not from the plugin.

    https://github.com/WordPress/wordpress-develop/blob/6.7/src/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-automatic-updater.php#L889-L898

The above shows you are still getting nightly updates. You’ll need to re-install the current release.

why is the core updating nightly? when I no longer have the plugin, does that make better sense. I do not care where the email is coming from I want to know why I am receiving notifications for nightly updates when I no longer have the plugin

    Plugin Author Andy Fragen

    (@afragen)

You are currently on the nightly updates because that’s what’s currently installed. Re-install WP 6.7.2 to get off the nightly cycle.

The plugin puts you on the track for nightlies, but doesn’t remove you. You must return to the stable release to do that.

So removing the plugin doesn’t stop receiving updates? Any other plugin stops functioning once it is removed.

You people must be taking lessons from Windows
