    Hey Scot,

Thanks for that feedback. I’ve been looking at Ultimate Member with interest and will definitely put this in our queue to take a look at. Out of curiousity, how would you envision UkuuPeople enhancing the Ultimate Member plugin?
I’d love to see an integration with Ultimate Member as well and will probably put that in our future add-on library to allow users to vote on it.

Well recognizing new users added via UM would be a start. I’m surprised it’s not working actually since new Users created via UM assume the same roles as in default WP. It’s only at the community role state that UM adds any additional functionality.

Not a UM problem I guess. Seems UP won’t recognize any new users I’m adding unless they are the original Admin members. Is this the desired approach – UP recognizes People added on the backend versus users who join a site via the front end?

I think we would implement this as an option rather than default. There are some situations where someone wouldn’t want to sync all of their users to their CRM due to clutter, etc. Looking at 80/20 rule, not sure what percentage of people would want all users synced vs selected users. Maybe we should put it to a poll.

Really. My immediate thinking was this would be ideal for converting registered users into your CRM. This way, anyone adding UltimateMember or BuddyPress would be covered as well.

Thanks Scot. I opened a poll on the Advanced WordPress Facebook group. We’ll look at how to incorporate this in a future release. For now I’d like to close this topic but open a ticket in our support system at support.ukuupeople.com. Would it be ok for me to add your email address to that ticket so you get notifications as there are updates on this? You can email me your address at [email protected]

Sent my email but never did hear back on this. Still amazes me that the default would not be to have WP users added automatically. Why else use the plugin as a CRM if it doesn’t add your site users?

    Hey Scot,

I apologize if nobody got back to you. I understand your use-case and it does make sense. The reason we want to avoid adding all WordPress users by default is to ensure data quality. By only adding through specific actions (ie. import or gravity form, etc.) there is some minimal validation that this is someone we want to have in our CRM. Further by using tribes and touchpoints the CRM administrator can know where the contact originated.

For instance, with a proper UM integration you could configure UkuuPeople to add members through that integration but also add them to a UM tribe and have a touchpoint associated with their contact profile that they came in through UM.

That is our thinking at this point but we’re open to change based on our user’s needs.

Ok, so no adding WP Users by default, but can you see making this an option in the near future?

I really can’t imagine WP administrators won’t be asking for this feature. It begs the question, if I’m not using WP why would I choose to go through the process and cost of setting up a hosted version of WP so that I can use UkUUPeople to be my CMS? Would it not make more sense for people to just choose on of the dozens of SASS products on the market?

All this aside, if I buy the Gravity Forms add-on and have GF’s own registration add-on I’m assuming UKP will recognize these new users coming into the site via GravityForms, correct?

    Thx

Hey Scot, I certainly can see adding this functionality in a release and possibly soon.

At this point we’re really not looking for adoption outside the WordPress community. Nate and I both come from the CRM space and have worked with just about every one imaginable. Our objective was to create a plugin that would provide an interface for, and allow WordPress users to build their own CRM solution through integrations.

Given my experience and what our agency charges for a true CRM implementation I think there is still a tremendous benefit. We’re currently developing a study on how to build a simple CRM solution using WordPress and UkuuPeople for under $500.

IMHO the biggest benefit to using Open Source solutions vs any SaaS solution is that you own and are in control of your own data.

Absolutely, if you’re registering someone through GF they will be added as contacts in UkuuPeople. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you run into any snags with this.

I really appreciate the feedback and that you’re challenging us a bit. It’s extremely valuable and flattering too =)

Don’t get me wrong, I think what you’re doing is great and agree 100% on open source solutions and owning your data. I’ve used the SalesForces of the world and would much prefer a WP solution. I’ll go the GF route for adding contacts for now as I’m confident in their product as well.

    Thanks

No worries Scot, I totally get where you’re coming from and we really do appreciate the feedback and conversation. It really does help. Have a great weekend!
