Recommend a Host

My recomandation goes to ‘‘A Small Orange’‘. Very low prices starting from $5 per month, CPanel administration and good support.

heh i use https://www.hddweb.com but that’s because I know the person who runs the server. Pretty good setup though.

I have been using WestHost from 2000. They are hosting Taragana.Com and my Simple Thoughts Blog. Never had problems. Their support is very prompt and capable.
What I like most is that I get VPS (Virtual Private Server), which allows me to tinker with the system and optimize stuff. I can even restart my virtual machine, if things go wrong. You can run your own server processes, cron jobs, ssh etc. You have your own instance of Apache server in your VM.

I heard good things about DreamHost too. However I haven’t used them personally.

I’ve been using https://www.icdsoft.com for almost a year now and I’ve been totally satisfied. They have space for $60/year ($5/month) and you get 2 DB, 7 subdomains, 500mb space, 7GB traffic. And their service is fricking awesome. A business assosciate of mine was dabbling in php and having trouble. He sent an e-mail to them and within 5 minutes they’d sent his script back to him – fixed. Their support always has a response within 5 minutes, no matter the time of day or year. Tho I don’t use it often I think it’s amazing that it’s there.

I just have to throw in my support for Aussie Hosts – don’t know if they’re the cheapest, but their prices fit in with my budget (and as a student, that ain’t much) – but the best thing is their support and their attitude – no question is too dumb – and they never sleep – they are really cool people. I’ve been with them for two years now, and about to go into my 3rd year with them. Worth checkin’ out.

I enjoy their VPS which is pretty much the cheapest in industry.
Support is also very satisfactory. I am pretty happy so far with them and will be upgrading in a couple of days to handle my traffic.

I have also have GoDaddy.com , I have not had any problems with their hosting and the WP install went smooth.

Do not use affordablehost.com. They are deteriorating in services and support. In the last six months my accounts with them have suffered two major server crashes. I am currently looking for a new hosting provider.

Don’t forget about TextDrive (https://textdrive.com). They sometimes have those VC campaigns where they offer lifetime hosting (whose life, I don’t know, I assume yours, not Dean’s) for cheap. They don’t have any fancy interface, but they are dedicated to security, are die hard geeks, and donate a portion of their proceeds to WP if you so specify. What could beat that?

JaguarPC: A1 service and A1 support at low price.
