Recommendations for this requirement – pls!!

First wish you all advanced Happy new Year.

My requirement is that for my product site – I need to have some description abt the product, full detail abt the product and some screen shots that form the banners.

On the index page – it will show up a random product banner (banner I prefer to be as image+text – but if it is not possible – I can chose to use image alone).

On the product categories page i need to have all products under the category listed – but only the product title and description goes there for say 5 products. Other products get listed on side bar. (I am working on a category theme based on mosho’s suggestions at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/98506?replies=4)

When the user clicks on any product from the product category – he will be taken to a product page where it will use all banner + description + detailed product explanation .

Suggest me how to approach this situation – I am good at php – but just a beginner to wordpress (with introductions to basic programming and understanding of the architecture and structure) – so hints and suggestions should help me make a progress.
