recommended features failed to activate. Api404error

Finally, I restarted APACHE2:

$ sudo systemctl restart apache2

Here are my firewall settings:

$ sudo apt-get install ufw
$ sudo ufw allow ssh
$ sudo ufw allow http
$ sudo ufw allow https
$ sudo ufw allow sftp
$ sudo ufw enable

I installed these php modules in ubuntu:

php7.0
php7.0-mysql
php7.0-curl
php7.0-json
php7.0-cgi
php7.0-fpm
php7.0-mysql
php7.0-mcrypt
php7.0-zip
php7.0-curl
php7.0-xml
php7.0-mbstring
libapache2-mod-php7.0

I was able to install Jetpack, log into an existing account, and “approve” it.

Then I get the error:

“Recommended features failed to activate. Api404Error”

Jetpack (5.5.1)
WooCommerce Storefront theme (2.2.5)

When I log into https://wordpress.com , I see the site is connected, and the traffic stats did in fact get to wordpress.com .

My current Permalink Settings:

“Day and name”

and

“Shop base” – for woocommerce products

Mmm, gonna try editing the HTACCESS file to force any http request to be rewritten using https…
