    Pleease help!!!

I had a wordpress site set up by someone I’m no longer in contact with. Since then, I had lost the use of my website address because I was away and didn’t renew it on time.

The website address is now available for purchase again. If I go ahead and purchase the website address from say, go-daddy for example, is it a simple process to have that re-pointed to my orginal wordpress account to get access to the back office to enable me to import those posts into a new one wordpress site?

I urgently look forward to your help.

    Thanksing you in advance.

  • Do you still have a hosting account with the old site on it?

Yes I think I do…. Thanks so much for getting in touch btw:0)

Then you should be able to re-register your domain name and point it to your WordPress site.

Brilliant! If I wanted to use a different hosting company, one that I’m already using, to save me using two companies is that easy enough?

It should be. Many people use 2 companies by choice. But you will need to check the documentation on both company sites to sort out how exactly you point your domain name to your site. The exact process can vary slightly from host to host.

thanks so much. just out of interest, if I end up using the hosting company and simply point the domain from another company, will that effect SEO.
For example, it’s currently hosted with Hostgator, but I’ve already purchased a new domain from go daddy which i want to use. I plan to change the url name in wordpress, but wondered if I was better off transferring the domain name also so as not to effect seo, but wasn;t sure if it made a difference;0)
