• I’ve had Participants Database working well for about a year.

But within the last week or so, users with Record Edit Access Level are no longer able to edit records. They can go into a record and change a field, but after ‘Submit’ or ‘Apply’ is clicked, it says record updated but the record still shows the same info with no changes.

Users with Plugin Admin Access Level are able to edit records, though.

I have User Role Editor Plugin installed, which recently had an update and the problem may correspond with that. Disabling RE plugin does not fix the problem, though. If I give the editor ‘manage_options’ capability, they are then able to edit but the admin options then also show in their menu. All of the edit posts and pages capabilities are enabled for the editor, including ‘edit_others_posts’.

I’m guessing that a recent update somehow broke the edit records access. I see another couple of posts in this forum in the last week who seem to also be having problems with editing records and have Role Editor plugin installed.

  • Hey, I thought it fixed but I was wrong and it never actually did so as of current, it’s still broken. Have RE installed too but disabling does nothing either.

I did an RE reset to bring everything back to same roles before RE was installed, but that didn’t help either. I had a backup to before the last RE update, but rolling it back didn’t fix the problem either.

So I’m guessing the problem began with the last Participants Database plugin update.

I’ve taken a close look at the code trying to see what the issue is, but I don’t know what the problem is. I can’t duplicate it myself, this works fine on the two sites I tested it on. If you can get any more information about the problem, I may be able to figure it out.

Please do not make that offer. The plugin author should not accept or I’d have to use this form letter.

I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us asking you to repeatedly stop before escalating up to the plugins team.

tl;dr is don’t make that offer and no one should accept.
