Recount Activity gives error every time

    I have a website with over 330,000 users that has been live for over 20 years. We migrated to the WordPress platform last year, have recently installed Gamify, and now I would like to perform Recount Activity within Gamify to retroactively reward users for creating forum topics.

    We also have a staging site where we attempt every update and potentially disastrous action ahead of applying it directly to our site.

    When I begin the Recount Activity, there are about 1,780,397 entries for the plug-in to process, and though the recount will sometimes make it all the way down to only several hundred thousand to go, it has hit an error each and every time. I’ve probably tried the recount about 10 different times.

    I have tried to simplify the process by reducing the loop down to 50 per loop, 20 per loop etc. with no better results. I’ve tried narrowing the recount down to only one award that it is recounting, the forum post award, by not having the awards show on our main feed (which prevents literally millions of posts), etc.

    But I am still getting an error.

    What can I do to ensure the recount completes itself? Or, what do you think I am doing wrong?

    There is no issues from your side

    The recount activity tool tries to get all your users (in groups of the items per loop you have configured) and all their topics to recount them

    The probably issue here is that there are some users with a large amount of topics which makes that, for those users, the process reaches the maximum time or size allowed

    For example, your sever has a limitation for every single process, like 60 seconds, if any process exceed this time, the server will automatically stop it

    For that and since the recount only will be perform a few times, a way to can get it done is by contacting to your hosting provider to increase the limits established to your PHP setup (the maximum execution time, the maximum size for a database query, etc)

    Increasing those limits, will let you run the recount activity tool and then, at the moment you finished this process to can recover those settings to their initial or desired values
