Recover blog followers from previous Jetpack install/WordPress.com account?
-
Hi,
I am administering a site which was recently migrated to a new server where I had been developing a new website for it on a separate WordPress install. I’ve discovered that since migrating the content and switching the URL over to point to the new site, the blog’s email followers are no longer receiving emails whenever a new post goes up.The old site was around for a few years before I took it over and the login details for the WordPress.com account which was associated with its install of Jetpack has long been lost; when I installed Jetpack on the new build I had to set up a new WordPress.com account to connect it to.
I’ve seen on support forums that subscriber lists are kept on WordPress servers and are associated with a unique blog ID (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/re-activating-subscriptions-after-inadvertent-removal-of-jetpack/). Presumably this link with the blog ID was broken when I built the new site? The support forums don’t explain how I can repair this and that it can only be done at WordPress’s end. Are you able to do this?
To clarify, the URL for the site hasn’t changed since the migration to the new server. But it’s a fresh install of WordPress and Jetpack.
Any help you can offer with this would be really appreciated.
Thanks!
StevenPS. I’ve recently put a new Jetpack subscriptions widget on the site, but that’s a brand new list – the original list had around 290 followers.
PPS. What’s weird is that if I switch on ‘show subscriber count’ in the widget, it displays something like 299 subscribers – but none of them are receiving emails! And they’re not listed in the “Email Followers” of the site on the associated WordPress.com account. The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]
