Recycle WordPress Cat/ Tag ID #s?

I know this is nitpicky and obsessive but… it bugs me that my WordPress ID #s jump around all over the place. For posts it’s fine but it bugs me when category and tag IDs are never recycled. Even when I start fresh and re-do all the tags/ categories they never start at 1 but somewhere in the 800 or whatever range.

I know it’s silly but, is there a way to recycle the numbers and start back at 1 and go on consecutively again? I don’t think loss of data would be an issue as the categories and tags have been changed and even shut down at times. But, I don’t know why they have to get another number every time I make a change rather than keep the original early numbers.

Anyway, I know it’s not important, but it’s a little thing that bugs me.
