My contact forms have an error message in them when you arrive to the page, and I can’t find anything obviously wrong. There is a button on the home page, right side bar, manchesterinklink.com that says “Got a tip?” which links to the contact form, but it has a red error message embedded in the content.

Not sure if the image url is going to work below, so I copied and pasted the content that include the error message, right below “obituaries”

    error message in contact form
    Press releases
    Company news/promotions
    Letters to the Editor
    Classified Ads or Yard Sales
    Announcements (Wedding, Engagements, Achievements)
    High School Sports Scores
    Obituaries (always free to post!)
    Error: Post content required

Glad to help. Which plugin is this for? I ask because USP does not include a contact form. And the forums here at www.ads-software.com are for free (WP-hosted) plugins only. If you need help with Pro, please visit the contact form (or Help Forum) at Plugin Planet. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I get to USP in my WP dashboard from Settings. I copied the shortcode into a template to create the submission form. I tested it myself when logged out of my site, but this is the second user who says they’ve entered content and it isn’t populating on the site or notifying me via email.

The page where the error is showing up in red ink

Here is a link to my homepage. Maybe you can try to submit a test and we can see what happens? I don’t have pro version, it’s just part of my dashboard (Blargo). I got here by following the link on my dashboard that says “Plugin Homepage.”

If you email me directly I can send you a screenshot of the error, if it’s not showing up here.

Forgot the link to my site: ManchesterInkLink.com. I’ve been using the shortcode for quite a while. The red=ink error is new, to my knowledge.

I think I understand, but it sounds like the plugin is included as part of a bundle/theme? If so, I would recommend contacting the theme author, as they would be best suited to handle this issue with knowledge of how they have implemented the plugin. Thank you.

No. I added it as a free-plug in to my site after searching for a way to add user-generated content.

In that case no problem, I’ll see what I can do to help. What is the URL that contains the form (and where is it located on the page, if not obvious). That way I can take a look and see if anything looks weird or whatever.

    Notice in the URL:

    ?usp-error=required-content

That is appended when the Post Content field is required but lacks any content.

To clear the error message, just use the normal page URL:

    https://manchesterinklink.com/diy-submit-a-press-release-letter-to-the-editor-or-oped/
