Redirect error

Generated sitemap.xml is submitted to and detected by Google fine, after a few days it starts reporting a 404 not found error and if I want to verify by clicking on and attempting to go to: https://mysite/sitemap.xml in the browser it actually redirects to: https://mysite/map.xml thus the page not found.
