• I have an expired domain here where 70% of the backlinks are pointing to what was a subdirectory (domain.com/fr)

The other 30% of the backlinks are pointing to the root (domain.com).

What is the best way to get all the link juice to just the homepage?

Should I install wordpress on a sub directory (domain.com/fr) and 301 the root to it (if thats even possible)? Or should I install the site on the root (domain.com) and then create the subdirectory (domain.com/fr) and 301 it to the root (domain.com)?

  • Hi dirtyoldlarry

I am not understanding you problem.DO you want the domain with the small amount of backlinks to link to the one with the lots??

I would go with your second option, install in the root directory and redirect from the /fr to the root. You could even use a redirect plugin to make sure that you dont miss any others.

    Hello,

The second option wont damage your backlink’s.
Hence I’d suggest you to go with it.
Also do let me know if you’ve cPanel access
