    Hi,

First of all let me thank you for such a great and easy to use plugin of yours, it is fantastic.

That being said, let me start by saying that i read your plugin information, and I know you cant ensure to work with WPML plguin. That being said, what I’m trying to acomplish here, is not exactly the scenario you presented, and I’m sure we can make it work.

So my idea is I have https://siteA.com with WPML installed (with or without automatic redirection, I′m saying this as it behaves same way with and without) with 5 languages each of them under ?lang=xx

On the other hand i have https://siteB.com and i want to mirror the whole site https://siteA.com into https://siteB.com

I already got this working, with no problem as long as you work only on the main language (in this case english).

    The weird part comes here:

    – So if i go to https://siteB.com which is showing the same content as https://siteA.com perfectly, and I then go to a secondary language such as https://siteB.com/?lang=es everything seems fine. Then if i go to the bottom of the home page and use the link to to the the terms and conditions, everything works as expected and it will take me to https://siteB.com/termns-and-conditions/?lang=es

    – Now, the problem comes when I try to go the self standing checkout page (by self standing i mean i can directly access to it, as it is a prepopulated checkout) throught this link https://siteB.com/checkout/?lang=es some how it will redirect me to https://siteA.com/checkout/?lang=es

As explained, this just happens on the checkout page, and i cant figureout where this redirection is happening. I did some testings and i concluded that the plguin I’m using to prepopulate the cart, is not causing such behaviour, and As explained on my first lines, the automatic redirection of WPML is dissabled, so Im inclined to thing that somewhere you plugin is doing such redirect.

Would you kindly please help me finding the solution.

I can send you a PM with actual details of siteA and siteB, even login details if you wish.

    Thanks
    Kind regards

    hy,
thanks for your review and great to hear you like the plugin ??

i guess you have seen in our faq that we do not offer compatibility with translation plugins so far (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/multiple-domain-mapping-on-single-site/#is%20it%20compatible%20with%20wpml%2Fpolylang%2F%E2%80%A6%3F). this is something we are investigating for a future or premium version, since it is a challenging task to support all different use-cases (like subdomain/slug/get-parameter for changing language).

nevertheless, it looks like you have made good work so far and are pretty near your goal. let me tell you, that our plugin is not doing any redirections. what it does, is change links in your html and hook into the page loading process.
therefore, it is hard to point to a solution right now. can you find any differences between this checkout-page and any other page that works?

when you talk about a checkout-page, am i right that you use woocommerce for that? since woocommerce would be another plugin that we do not support so far, the problem could lie here :/

i am looking forward to your response and i hope you understand, that we won’t be able to dive into the wpml/woocommerce topics by now…

    Hi Matthias,

You are more than wellcome, and be sure that if it is a sensible price, I’m willing to buy your premium plugin as long as it allows me to do what im trying.

As you said, yes, Im pretty close to make it work as intended.

I use a pretty specific pluguin to prepopulate the cart/checkout (being same page) so although this plugin runs under woocommerce, it is not purely woocommerce.

Appart from the checkout plugin mentioned above (which i dissabled, and still does not work) I cant think of anything else, more than what you just pointed out (woocommerce) to be “guilty” of this issue.

Let me see if i understood you correctly. So your plugin does not make any redirections AT ALL during the process of using the mirrored domain right?

It is an uncommon case mine, so my offer to peek into our website even for curiosity is still there if you want.

As stated the weird thing is that it works fine as long as you are on the main language.

    hy,

i’d guess that it lies somewhere in or between wpml / woocommerce. it is definitely a setup that’s worth having a look, but unfortunately we have absolutely no time for that by now. and yes, you are right with the point regarding redirections.

you need to know that the plugin is maintained next to our agency and so far more like a hobby. so as long as we do not go ahead and provide paid features, we won’t provide support for such use cases :/

maybe you could go the way to keep you woocommerce pages in the main domain and gather all other pages in siteA.com/xyz (and therefore map siteB.com to /xyz). as far is our last tests (some time ago) showed, woocommerce relies on cookies for the cart, therefore it could be necessary to have the shop/cart pages on the same domain anyway?

i’m sorry that we can’t provide more help here, but i’m sure you understand our reasons. i hope you will find a solution which is ok for you and would be happy to read about it here later ??

    Hi Matthias,

The issue definetely lies in between those two, no doubt about it. And for hobby purposes (xddd if that makes sense) you definetely would like to put your hands on this installation att some point.

I understand, in fact many other payable plugins wont even reply, so you wen further than many others would.

Having all except the cart in the secondary domain is not a valid option, or at least not for the use we want to give.

Im not sure if it will worth asking at WPML support forum, they tend to always point everywhere but them, moreover when it comes down to two giants as WPML and Woocoomerce, and with all my respects that was one of the reassons why i thought you might be more “inclined” to help me, appart than thrully beleived it was something to do with your plugin.

    Thanks
    Kind regards

    hy,

yep i share your point of view about wpml, which is why we moved all our clients to polylang in the last months. they also have much better performance.

maybe you could give polylang or one of the other alternatives a try.

thanks for your understanding and good luck

    Hey!

I know you told me you where really bussy, but im getting to a dead end here….

I dissabled woocommerce all toghether and it is still redirecting… do you have any other ideas in mind?

    Thanks
    kind regards

    hy,
can you be sure that no redirections are left in your browser cache? that’s a very important point when dealing with such stuff, to always work with disabled cache (can be done in developer tools of google chrome for example) and sometimes hard-refresh…

    Thread Starter andresmolina

    (@andresmolina)

Well you will not beleive how dumb I am… yes, it was a cache issue (although not fully), now it is working “fine” except for the fact that after an order is placed, the user is redirected to the susccess order page BUT with the https://siteA.com, but it is alright i just applied a tricky filter in analytics so I can track them.

Thanks a lot for all your patience and once again thanks for such a good plugin.

    Kind regards

great to hear. we are also aware that it would be much easier if we place hints for those tricky parts directly in the plugin ??

i guess you have already noticed the donations-button in my website matthias-wagner.at? if you enjoy the plugin and want to support our willingness for support, we’d be happy about a small donation ??

    good luck with your project
