Redirect links?

    Up until yesterday afternoon, I’ve been able to log in to my blog via https://www.askviki.com/blog/wp-login.php?. Now when I log in, instead of the Dashboard and access to the blog, my website appears. when I click on ‘blog’, I’m taken to the blog (NOT within admin) and the blog looks very weird.

    I hired someone via Elance to ‘redirect’ my website to the blog or whatever they needed to do on the back-end of my website/blog to make the blog be the website. But they had messaged me saying they were having trouble logging in which is what prompted me to try last night.

    In other words, instead of a custom website, I want a WordPress site. I had all the pages built, theme installed, updated and tweaked, all the plugins working, etc.

    I am running a custom theme on the website and the Lupercalia Theme on the blog. Like I said everything was working fine yesterday morning before church; I was logged into the blog, scheduled a post, edit copy on a page and logged off.

    Oh, I did notice my website stats said I had over 3500 hits (highly unusual) and today it’s 932??

  • Whoever did the redirecting didn’t do it properly. You should get them to undo it.

    There is an easy way to redirect your blog from the blog folder to the root folder described here in the codex https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

    The Elancer didn’t do anything yet, they had messaged me saying they were having trouble logging in which is what prompted me to try last night.

    How did you try to do it yourself? I mean what method did you use? Please explain and I might be able to tell you how to undo it.

    I’ve been told there’s NOT been a redirect made yet. However, the blog seems to be redirecting to the website and since I can’t access the admin portion of the blog in order to check for a redirect, I posted the request for help here…

    This is the url I usually use to log into WordPress: https://www.askviki.com/wp-login.php. Instead of the usual WP login screen (user & password in the middle of the screen) I’m now seeing a similar screen off to the right of the screen. When I login, instead of arriving at the WordPress admin (dashboard?) I’m arriving at the actual website.

    So now I’m wondering if those 3500+ visitors my site had yesterday has anything to do with my problem?

    Is there another way to access WP’s admin?

    did you look at the .htaccess file maybe there’s something in there that’s redirecting. Maybe your webhost can help you with this redirect problem. It sounds more like a server issue than a WP issue right now.
