• Well, I installed WP 2.6, but apparently the install was messed up even though I already have a couple blogs running on WP 2.6 and I installed them pretty much alright, it was messed up because the interface was messed up, the icons weren’t there, no images show at all. When I checked out the design tab for the installed theme, even the screenshots will not appear.

So I decided to install 2.5.1 instead on the new blog, but everytime I try to log in, it gives me the redirect loop error. I had this error on one of my attempts to install 2.6 too.

Can anyone tell me if I’m doing something wrong?

  • likely your 1st install of 2.6 hung on step 2 – that put the wrong 2 url’s in the database.
Now your 2.5.1 install is trying to connect to the same database with the wrong values.

Try this. Delete all 2.5.1 files. Either delete entire database and create another or drop all of the tables in the current one.
Upload the 2.6 files again and run the installer.

    samboll,

you are missing the step to reinstall the backup of the db of the 2.5.1 information… assuming it was corrupted in the upgrade process… dropping all of the tables would not be the only step as you would lose all of your data ??

You missed that it is a new blog so who cares what’s in the db ?
