Redirect pages using xampp locally — Bookmarks and Browser Preview URL

    Dear Redirection Team,
    first, thank you very much for your free plugin!

    I have two questions regarding the functionality.
    I want to redirect a woocommerce product page with a “normal” WordPress page

    — the source woocommerce product page is:
    https://localhost/mysite/product/productA/

    — the target “normal” WP product page is:
    https://localhost/mysite/productcategory/subcategory/productA/

    Here is how I’ve set up the redirections with the plugin:

    Source URL: /mysite/product/productA/? (Regex-Box checked)
    Target URL: https://localhost/mysite/productcategory/subcategory/productA/

    it’s working for links within the site (like cart links ect…)

    but here are my two questions:
    1) when I load a browser-bookmark of the source woocommerce product page in firefox, the page won’t get redirected??! I would expect it to also get redirected to the target “normal” WP product page. (cache is cleared, of course)
    Bookmarks won’t get redirected with 301 generally?

    2) in your browser you get these url previews (firefox in the left bottom corner) Here, you won’t see the redirected target URL but the source URL.

    Are these two issues suggesting, that I haven’t set up the Redirection through the plugin properly?
    Are there ways to fix these two issues?

    There is no difference between a page requested via a bookmark and other methods. Either the URL is not matching, or you have something cached.

    I don’t understand what you mean by the second point. Can you show a screenshot?

    Hi John,
    thanks for getting back to me.
    Yeah, you are right. After a short break, I started xampp and firefox ect new, cleared the cache again… and now indeed, the bookmarks get redirected, too. thanks:)
    to the second point:
    there is a grey status bar in the left-bottom corner of firefox and chrome window. it displays the url when a link is hovered.
    that (i would call it url-preview) status bar unfortunately doesn’t show the redirected target url, but the source link.
    I just wanted to ask, if your plugin can’t/doesn’t change that?
    Just wanted to make sure, if I did set up everything correctly.

    A redirect won’t change the old URL anywhere, so no it won’t affect that part of Firefox
