Redirect PDFs

Hello,
I’m trying to use this plugin to redirect a pdf file, ie:
/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/oldfile.pdf
TO
https://www.example.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/newfile.pdf
It does not work. I tried editing the .htaccess file as well directly, but that also does not work.
Can this be achieved with this plugin or otherwise?
