• I set up a new website for a client. Her old one was hacked badly and over time, she ultimately wanted to rebuild and rebrand. On the new site, I set up BWPS along w Wordfence to make sure that this site was not hacked.

I set up the old site to redirect to the new and then installed BWPS. After a few days, I see that I’m getting a ton of 404 errors where the old domain is being hit and redirected but the redirects are failing. I went to put some more specific redirects in but can’t do it because the .htaccess is locked down.

I went into BWPS and unchecked the options that lock down the .htaccess and tried again… However, now I get

Apache detected an error in the Rewrite config.

Syntax error on line 180 of /home/mydomain/public_html/.htaccess.snWnRke5pN_MicENBAFaoSpfHCWKmtS5:
Invalid command 'suPHP_ConfigPath', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration

    Please try again.

Before BWPS I had no trouble doing redirects. So, how do I do redirects to .htaccess without uninstalling BWPS?

    Thank you,

    Heidi

    Ah… I figured it out!

My .htaccess had a line in it

    suPHP_ConfigPath /home/mydomain/public_html

When I removed that line and then unchecked

Remove write permissions from .htaccess and wp-config.php

I can now do redirects from my cpanel.
