Redirect To Random Post Not Working

Hi John,

This seems to be some kind of bug. I have the latest WordPress installation and the Redirection plugin is also updated. All redirections are working except ‘Redirect To Random Post’. It is very strange and I can’t seem to figure out the problem. I have a bit technical knowledge. Kindly add /surprise or /abc to the url shared. Instead of redirecting to a random post, it returns the 404 page.

Already tried these things, but nothing helped:

– updating to latest version
– disabling and enabling plugin
– adding new random post redirections
– tried all – 301, 302, 307, 308
– all other redirection types work
– clearing cache (no caching thru server side, also no cache plugin on site)
– checked on https://www.redirect-checker.org

Additionally, it used to work before the last few updates (not on the same URL though, but the setup was same – as in the theme and plugins). So I don’t think there’s any conflict with a theme or plugin. Also, the old version (v2.5) works smoothly on my other WordPress site. So the problem began after last few updates only.

Kindly help out please, or I might have to return to an old version. ??
