• I have a WP multi-site AND have WP installed to a subfolder. All done by our web guys. I can;t seem to connect to them and hence why I needed to attempt a fix myself.

note: I have viewed this https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory and other related posts on the same issue.

I have a domain meileog.com that points to my server (www.widlasia.org).

What I need is to do is point to a subfolder “/mei/”. I currently access the site via https://wildasia.org/mei/.

Since I already have an index.php and .htaccess file in my root, I am not sure if I need to overwrite this with the files from the mei installation. Alternatively – do I need to copy the info from two files in the subfolder and append to the files in the root?

In WP/settings – what do I set the WP and Site address to? Currently both are set to: https://wildasia.org/mei/

Any specific pointers will be helpful especially any code that I need to add.

    Thanks

    Reza

  • Just to clarify, you want the site that is currently installed at https://wildasia.org/mei/ to be accessible from meileog.com?

So for example, instead of wildasia.org/mei/blog/ …you want it to be served from meileog.com/blog/?

    Yes – exactly.

I did not see a way to make this change on the domain name side of things (via network solutions).

    Thanks

If it was installed in a subdomain instead of a subdirectory (i.e. mei.wildasia.org instead of wildasia.org/mei/) you could have used a CNAME record.

Would it be possible to move it to a subdomain first? But if you’re going to do that, you might as well just migrate it do the new domain.

I think there was a conflict with the Theme for mei and our existing Theme used for the rest of the multi-sites. That’s why the install went to the subfolder.

Is there no hope if we stick to the current structure.

If not, we would need to find out how to reinstall/move as you have suggested.

    Thanks

actual text appeared in one line instead of the videos

Unfortunately, I would have to say there is no hope with the current structure.

You might want to check out the Moving WordPress page on the Codex for next steps on how to proceed.

Okay – seems annoying that we can’t fix this. Anyway – will explore the migration route ??
