  • Alan,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

As I’m sure you realize, the regular WordPress login (by username/password) will also take users to their profiles by default.

There are plugins available to change this behavior. Some didn’t work too well when I tried, but Peter’s Login Redirect worked even in conjunction with Google Apps Login in a short test I carried out just now:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/peters-login-redirect/

The only thing I tried was changing the default URL to the home page – the plugin also gives a lot of options for user and role-specific redirects on login if that is of interest too, but I haven’t tested it with Google Apps Login.

To be honest, having multiple plugins all related to login is not really guaranteed to work in all situations (different WordPress versions etc). But give it a try in your particular setup, and if it works then perfect!

Let me know how you get on.

    Thanks,

    Dan

    Dan –

Works like a charm! Thanks a lot for the quick and accurate response.

Dan Lester, I too would like to have the user taken to the home page verses the login page. I just want to confirm that the best way to do this is with yet another plugin.

I’m using the WP Google Apps Login – Premium

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/google-apps-login/

Yes, the same applies to both basic and premium versions of Google Apps Login plugin.

cant redirect to wp login.after installing google apps login.its shows invalid client.help me to recover my wp site back.
i will veru thnakful to you. please help me.

I’m not too sure why you can’t login at all, at least using your WordPress username/password, but perhaps you have the option ‘automatically redirect to google login’ enabled for the plugin.

Please try accessing your site by adding this to the link to your site URL:
    /wp-login.php?gaautologin=false

That will stop automatic login via google, so perhaps you can use your normal WordPress username/password at that point.

If you can access the admin panel, you can then disable the option ‘automatically redirect to google login’ under Settings -> Google Apps Login.

Then you would need to follow the instructions to configure Google Apps Login again – perhaps you missed something the first time.

If you can’t access at all via the above link, then I’m afraid you may need to find a way to access your WordPress database directly – perhaps I can help you find a guide on the web if it comes to that.

Please let me know how you get on, and if you still have problems please explain in more detail what is going wrong – why your Google login doesn’t work, why your WordPress username/password isn’t being accepted etc.

Email [email protected] with any further information, as that is the best way to reach me.
