I had a wordpress blog that was on a subdomain that I want to redirect to a new url that is also a wordpress blog but it is the root.

Initially I had the blog on a subdomain for a static site but have redone the site so that the entire site is now a wordpress site. I would like to add a redirect to the site some how so that if a person types in the old url ( billygrant.com/sugo) they land on the new site billygrant.com

this is what I am hoping for- if a person types in any page or post associated with the old url – https://billygrant.com/sugo it will redirect to https://billygrant.com
I can then remove the old sugo directory completely from the server.

I do not care about saving the old blog ( sugo )

Hope I have explained this clearly and it makes sense. As always many thanks to any and all that take the time to answer this post

if you have access to your server (or you have a tech that can do it for you) set up a 301 redirect from the old to the new…

    Hmmm-
thanks for the replies to this- fectio 1 and debi_c I know I can do a 301 redirect with a static site when moving it from one location to another but was not sure if this is possible when using wordpress when the hosting is staying at the same location and we are trying to redirect the old traffic and links to a blog that was in a subdomain to the root location without the pages and posts of the subdomain blog breaking the site.

Seems it might be possible but think I need to see if there is some more info out there on this before trying it.
The old blog has about 5 years worth of posts and pages on a pretty active blog so there are quite a few links pointing to things that would need to redirect to the new site home page that is in the root.
