Redirected Images in Firefox don’t work

Can you give an example of a URL that isn’t working?

Here’s a specific URL. The image at the bottom.

https://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/sql-server/exchange-public-folder-migration-code/

The URL in the image is: https://www.dcac.com/ad/primary_image/itke_exchange-public-folder-migration-code

This redirects to https://www.dcac.com/

This is not an image and does not work in any browser. You will need to clear your browser cache.

That redirects to https://www.dcac.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/BannerAd.png and shows as expected in my phone, in Chrome and in IE. Clicking the link above will redirect to the image.

Strange, the URL redirects to https://www.dcac.com when tested by cURL. I can only imagine there is some user agent detection in place.

The problem is not related to the redirect, but probably what you are doing in terms of redirecting an image. It doesn’t work in Chrome or Firefox for me, but does work in Safari.

Humm, I tried turning on Agent detection and seeing the success and failure options to the same URL, and it still doesn’t work. I normally don’t have any agent detection enabled. The HREF does go to dcac.com (it is its own redirect which works fine when I click through).

I am using regex for the matching. Could that be throwing it off? The regex that’s in there currently is “/ad/primary_image/[a-zA-Z0-9\-\_]*”. There’s another one for the link that has the following regex in there “/ad/primary_link/[a-zA-Z0-9\-\_]*”.

No, it will have no effect. As I mentioned it seems to be a browser issue – some browsers seem to support what you are doing, and some don’t. This could be because the URL does not have an image extension.
