‘Redirected Links’ not displaying redirect URL

I hope you’re doing well today.
The redirect URLs won’t show up in the table row rather if you click on the row, it will show a dropdown where it can be seen as the Final URL like on the screenshot here.

The fix redirect button has to be enabled on the settings page like Adam mentioned on the other thread.

hi Biplav – the fix redirect option is enabled (i’ve been using BLC for quite a few years so i kind of know my way around)

also the redirect URLs used to show up in the table without expanding the rows – i know this because i often hovered the links to see the new targets, plus, what is the point of having a ‘Redirect URL’ column in the table if it’s going to display the same URLs as in the ‘URL’ column?

also ‘final destination’ listed for these links is the same as the original link … to expand on an example i gave above…

Redirect URL: https://www.reactos.org/
Final URL: https://www.reactos.org/

the actual destination however is https://reactos.org/

so the new destination is not listed and there’s no option to fix the redirect

in summary…

* the ‘Redirect URL’ column of the table should display the redirect, not the original URL, else there’s no reason to have it
* the ‘fix redirect’ option is missing in these cases even when the option is enabled

I tested the links you mentioned and it seems to show up fine on the Redirect links column as well as on the dropdown of the link list.

I would suggest you to check the link again with the “Recheck” link option on the link list row. Please let us know if that works for you.

in your screen cap https://www.reactos.org/ is redirected to https://reactos.org/, which is correct

on my end, both urls are the same (https://www.reactos.org/) and clicking the recheck link does not change/update this

Can you please share the logs with us? You can enable logging on Settings->Link Checker -> Advanced -> logging.

Also, this can also be an issue with your server because the links are working fine on my test servers. This could also be a conflict with the other plugins/themes you’re using. To see if that’s the case you can enable WordPress Debugging.

i enabled the log and re-checked about 5 links on the Redirects tab

Everything looks okay to me on the logs but I was able to recreate this when I enabled safemode PHP or enabled open_basedir.

Could you please check if that’s the case for your website?
To check that you can use a phpinfo or use this plugin to quickly check if those are enabled.

PHPSafemode has been deprecated as of PHP 5.4.0 and the open_basedir is incompatible with following the redirect url while checking/curling a link.
So you must disable both if you want the redirect URL to show up on the redirect column.

i have 2 php.ini files…

/usr/local/php73/lib/php.ini
/usr/local/lib/php.ini

safe_mode does not exist (depreciated as you mentioned)
open_basedir is commented out in both files, however the plugin i’m using to get php info says…

open_basedir: /home/admin/:/tmp/:/var/tmp/:/opt/alt/php73/usr/share/pear/:/dev/urandom:/usr/local/php73/lib/:/usr/local/php73/lib/:

update: somehow or other the open_basedir option is being overridden in my server control panel, so it is apparently enabled, however disabling it results in a warning which i assume is a security warning

i’m very hesitant to disable this and it seems that BLC is the only plugin that requires this

is it instead possible to code BLC differently so that open_basedir can be left enabled?

Yeah I would also recommend not turning it off.
I will task this up for future so that we can make the plugin compatible with it and minimize the redirection errors if any.
I cannot provide you with an ETA at the moment but I’ll discuss this with team and probably push a fix in the near future.
