    Hi,
I’m having an issue resolving the way the post redirects to the post page after it has been posted to my social media sites using your plugin. If I put a page link to on a post it work just fine from WP but after nelio-content post for example to my Facebook timeline doing a “page link to” it’ll post the page it’s linked to & not the post. If I insert the image into the post & insert a link to the image after nelio-content post to my FB timeline if you click on the post &/or image it’ll just go to back the post as it usually do which is what I don’t want it to do.

Is there anyway I can disable that or some type of shortcode, php or something that I can set the post to go to another page of my choice other than the actual post page “prior” to nelio-content posting to my social sites & it stay set to the “other than post page” once nelio-content post to my social sites?
    Thanks in advance for assistance

Thanks for getting in touch, @angeliz2. Keep in mind that you can add multiple URLs in your social messages, but your social network will only show one of those URLs as the “related post” of the message.

So, social messages that include a single {permalink} will point to {permalink}. But social messages that include both the post’s {permalink} and a URL, will point to one or the other (depending on the network).

I don’t know if that answers your question or not. To be honest, I find it hard to understand what your issue is exactly… so, if this reply doesn’t help you, I’d really appreciate a more detailed explanation of your issue. What site are you using the plugin in? Can you show me a Facebook message with the problem? What do you actually see and what did you expect to see? The more info you give me, the easier it’ll to help you.

Hi thanks for your reply. What I’m trying to achieve is to create a post/page from WP have the post displayed on my social sites but I want the post on my social sites when clicked on go directly to one of my product pages instead of the {permalink}WP page.

Is there any way that this can be achieved with nelio content?

I have several products that’s bound to increase as time go by & was working with your plugin to save time by eliminating having to create a post then duplicating to each social site. I like your plugin it works wonderful with the exception that I can’t figure out how to change what page the social site post go to when clicked after nelio-content post it to my social sites

I tested several options using both IE & Firefox. for my social posts to go to a different page other than the {permalink} WP page. A couple possibilities were 1. I have a “Page Links To” plugin that makes the whole page go to the url I have set in the “Page Links To” field when clicked on. With that option after nelio-content post to my social sites instead of seeing the {permalink}post “first” it posted the url page from the “Page Links To” plugin that I want people to go when the post is clicked on but I want people to see the post “first” before going to my product page. 2. Instead of using the featured image I inserted the image in the content of the post then inserted a link to the content &/or image to go to one of my product pages but when nelio-content post to my social sites I see the {permalink}post & image but when clicked on it goes to the {permalink} WP page instead of my product page the content/image is linked to.

If I have to go to my social sites & linking it manually to my product pages defeats the purpose of using the nelio-content plugin. So I’m asking is there any way I can change it or some type of shortcode, hardcode or something that I can set the post & it stay set when clicked on to go to another page of my choice other than the {permalink} WP page “prior” to nelio-content posting the post to my social sites?

    Hi!

I think I now understand your setup… even though I don’t think any of this is necessary. So, essentially, this is what you’re trying to do:

    1. You have a product in WordPress that you want to share on Facebook
    2. You create a WordPress post. As such, it’ll have its own URL (for instance,
      https://example.com/my-new-post/).
    3. You add a social message in this post with some text and a link (by default,
      {title} {permalink}.
    4. You want this new social message to include a “card” showing the post you just created, but linking to the product in 1.

Well, there’s a few things you need to know:

    • Facebook (not Nelio Content) generates “a card” with the URL you add in the social message. That is, this “card” will always point to its own URL. To do that, Facebook visits the given URL, parses a few meta tags, and generates the card.
    • If you add a plugin for redirecting users from the post URL to somewhere else, so will Facebook. Therefore, using a plugin like “Page Links To” won’t work as expected.

So, the question is: why are you using such a complicated setup? Why do you need to create a new post and share it, if you don’t want any of your Facebook users to visit the post? Why don’t you simply share the product itself?

“So, the question is: why are you using such a complicated setup? Why do you need to create a new post and share it, if you don’t want any of your Facebook users to visit the post? Why don’t you simply share the product itself?
It’s not complicated. My website is setup as hub like a central location for purchases from different websites. I “do” want people to see the post but I “don’t” want people directed to the post page just the products so they don’t have go to the post page then the product. I know the “Page Links To” plugin is not going to work as I mentioned in my reply.

But why would this not work “2. Instead of using the featured image I inserted the image in the content of the post then inserted a link on the content &/or image to go to one of my product pages but when nelio-content post to my social sites I see the {permalink}post & image but when clicked on it goes to the {permalink} WP page instead of my product page the content/image is linked to”

If I put the link to my product page within the post content it works when testing “prior” to nelio-content uploading to social sites. After it’s uploaded the links within the post content don’t work it just goes to the {permalink} WP page?

If your plugin don’t have that capability I understand but I thought it might be a work-around or something I might have overlooked. Just to looking to automate some of my workload.

First of all, I’d really appreciate if you could use the same terms I use. That is, “post” refers to a “WordPress post” and “social message” is the message you create with Nelio Content that ends up being shared in Facebook (or Twitter, or LinkedIn, or whatever). If you don’t, it’s very difficult to follow your explanations.

Now, if you create a social message like this:

Check out my beautiful product https://store.com/products/beautiful/

and add an image to the social message (using the dialog), you’ll get what you want: Nelio Content will share the image you added with the content you specified, and the link will be obviously pointing to the appropriate webpage. If you don’t include the permalink placeholder in your social message, the post won’t be shared at all.

So, again, what’s wrong? Can you please show me an example? Just tell me one of the social messages you created, what you expected to see, and what you’re actually seeing.

    Thanks!
