    Dear Support,

I wrote a blog post but added a wrong keyword in the URL. In order not to lose the posts ranking, I redirected the URL.

BUT, I first mistakingly redirected the old URL (without keyword) to the new URL (with keyword), which of course didn’t work, as I hadn’t had a page set up for the new URL, so error 404 ocurred. Then I redirected it again: Now the new URL (with keyword – “deutsche artikel regel”) to the old URL (without keyword).

My question is: Does this back-and-forth-redirecting-thing have an effect on google finding the article right now? And, when people type in the keyword, can google still find the article in the future?

I know there is more than just the right keyword for google to find sth, but let’s say they keyword is my most important criterion currently.

    Looking forward to your answer.

    Best,

    Franziska

    Hello @franziska ,

When it comes to redirections made with our plugin, you can always edit them, delete them and and new redirections, so making a mistake there is not an issue. Redirections sometimes can take time to reflect the real state of things, so I would recommend that you clear the site cache, once you have all your redirections set up.

Google scrapers take usually 24-48h do re-scrape your website and notice the changes made. Google will prefer the direct link to the page, rather then redirection, so I expect it to be showing the original on the search results page (soon). I think it will also give priority to the page/post header name rather than (a wrongly spelled/worder) URL slug.

In any case, I recommend that you check the results on google search after 48 hours to be completely sure about the outcome.
