Why has the Redirection plugin been “closed down” today? Is it going to be available again?

  • Wondering the same.

Wordfence just flagged this in a security scan on one of our sites.
    Critical Problems:
    * The Plugin “Redirection” has been removed from www.ads-software.com.

Carol, my assumption there is that WordFence is reporting the removal as the issue, rather than specifically stating that a security issue has been detected. Is that how you would interpret that?

Yes, there’s nothing on the WF site specific to a Redirection security issue that I can find.

When I came to the plugin page at https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/redirection/ it said “this plugin is closed down”. Anyone coming here due to a WordFence warning — that is (or was) the problem.

For some reason, now this plugin is no longer reporting that it is “closed down”

The question is… what caused there to be a “closed down” warning in the first place, and why is it gone now? In other words, what the heck is going on? ??

Probably the author closed it down, due to a possible CSRF, check the latest commit/version. It’s open to downloads again, so we think it’s fine now.

Yes, from #pluginreview on Slack it appears it was hidden temporarily while the CSRF security issue was addressed and then restored with that update. It’s back and available to update.

Yep, the plugin was disabled for an hour or so due to a potential CSRF issue. I removed the code from the plugin until I have time to investigate it properly. This will have no effect on the running of any redirects.

Thank you for the explanation and also for the great plugin!!
